Equestrian Services in West Sussex

West Sussex is a major county for horse sport. It is home to the All England Jumping Course at Hickstead and Goodwood Racecourse, and its countryside is well suited to hacking and riding holidays.

Where to ride in West Sussex
The South Downs National Park runs right across the county, and the South Downs Way is open to horse riders along its whole length, giving miles of chalk downland riding with views out to sea. The Weald, around Horsham, Billingshurst and Pulborough, offers woodland and farmland rides on clay and sand. Downland tracks drain well, which makes them popular in winter when lower ground gets muddy.

Riding schools, livery and lessons in West Sussex
Our West Sussex directory lists riding schools, livery yards, trainers and stables in towns such as Chichester, Horsham, Haywards Heath, Billingshurst and Pulborough. Most riding schools offer group and private lessons for beginners and experienced riders, and many run pony days and holiday clubs for children. Prices vary between centres, so it is worth contacting a few to compare. Look for British Horse Society (BHS) or Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) approval as a sign of good standards.
