Where to ride in Somerset
Most of Exmoor National Park lies in Somerset, and its heather moorland and wooded combes are home to the hardy Exmoor pony. The Quantocks near Bridgwater and Taunton are crossed by bridleways with sea views, while the Mendips near Wells and Frome offer limestone tracks and open hilltops. The flat Somerset Levels make for gentle riding through quiet lanes and droves.
