Equestrian Services in Devon

Devon has two national parks, Dartmoor and Exmoor, each with its own native pony breed, and a mix of moorland, coast and quiet lanes that makes it one of the best counties in the country for riding holidays and hacking.

Where to ride in Devon
Dartmoor's open moorland, granite tors and old tracks are perfect for trekking, and many centres around the moor offer guided rides for all abilities. Exmoor, shared with Somerset, has wooded valleys and heather moorland in the north of the county. Inland, the green lanes and bridleways around Tiverton, Crediton and Okehampton offer quieter rides away from the tourist hotspots.

Riding schools, livery and lessons in Devon
Our Devon directory lists riding schools, livery yards, trainers and stables in towns such as Exeter, Newton Abbot, Tiverton, Bideford and Cullompton. Most riding schools offer group and private lessons for beginners and experienced riders, and many run pony days and holiday clubs for children. Prices vary between centres, so it is worth contacting a few to compare. Look for British Horse Society (BHS) or Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) approval as a sign of good standards.
