Equestrian Services in Derbyshire
Derbyshire is home to most of the Peak District National Park, Britain's first national park, and offers some of the most varied riding in England, from gritstone moors to limestone dales.
Where to ride in Derbyshire
The Pennine Bridleway, a long-distance route built for horse riders, starts at Middleton Top near Cromford, and the High Peak Trail and Tissington Trail follow old railway lines that are open to horses. The moors and dales around Buxton and Ashbourne offer longer rides, while the countryside south of Derby is gentler, with farm rides and lanes.
Riding schools, livery and lessons in Derbyshire
Our Derbyshire directory lists riding schools, livery yards, trainers and stables in towns such as Derby, Chesterfield, Ashbourne, Buxton and Swadlincote. Most riding schools offer group and private lessons for beginners and experienced riders, and many run pony days and holiday clubs for children. Prices vary between centres, so it is worth contacting a few to compare. Look for British Horse Society (BHS) or Association of British Riding Schools (ABRS) approval as a sign of good standards.
